About Mete Erker

Mete Erker is a saxophone player from Dutch and Turkish descent. He is renowned for his rich warm sound, strong drive, and his very personal and lyrical way of playing. 

With the Mete Erker Trio+1, his duo with pianist Jeroen van Vliet, and the Artvark Saxophone Quartet, his focus is on developing original music. 

Throughout the years he worked with master musicians like Peter Erskine, David Liebman, Philip Glass, Doudou N’Diaye Rose, Russian piano virtuoso Simon Nabatov and South African jazz legend Winston Mankunku.

He toured the world in a variety of settings, ranging from improvising sound scapes with church organ to a modern dance choreography by the famous Dutch company Conny Janssen Danst, to a concert in Central Park NY with Brazilian superstar Lenine.
